Welcome to Hotel Nineteen

Hotel Nineteen, nestled in the heart of Fall Bank Estate, Silkstone, offers visitors a welcoming retreat with a true local charm. Despite its modest 2.8 rating, it is clear that many guests appreciate the warmth of the staff and the quality of the food served. The atmosphere strikes a comfortable balance between a traditional pub and a quaint dining destination, making it especially appealing for those seeking an authentic English experience in Barnsley.

Patrons consistently praise the attentiveness of the team. Waiter Hake, for instance, receives special mention for his prompt and friendly service, which enhances the overall dining experience. The menu embraces classic pub fare with thoughtful touches, highlighted by standout dishes such as homemade chips, succulent cod with dauphinoise potatoes, and a surprisingly well-executed beef Wellington. These dishes reflect not only culinary commitment but also a respect for generous, satisfying portions—though some guests note room for improvement in serving sizes, as with the smaller portions of dauphinoise potatoes.

The setting itself is inviting and versatile. Groups, such as the party of twenty who recently visited, benefit from beautifully decorated private rooms that foster a convivial atmosphere. While a minor issue like a chilly window-side spot was noted, it hardly detracts from the experience, underscoring the venue’s suitability for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. Additionally, the business-focused amenities suggest Hotel Nineteen is equipped to support travelers and professionals alike, blending leisure with practicality.

Beyond the dining, the location unlocks opportunities for sightseeing and recreation around Dodworth and Barnsley. Hotel Nineteen serves as a convenient and comfortable base for exploring the local area, making it a strong choice for visitors seeking both relaxation and adventure.

In sum, Hotel Nineteen delivers a genuine and approachable hospitality experience. Its combination of friendly service, tasteful menus, and well-appointed spaces creates a compelling option for those wanting to enjoy quality pub food within a warm, welcoming environment. With attention to detail and minor tweaks, it has the potential to rise even further in standing among Barnsley’s hospitality offerings.

First visit here yesterday evening. The staff were all lovely and the food was really good. I had the cod dish and my friend had lasagne. We ordered chips as a side and they were homemade. My only small gripe was that the dauphinoise potatoes (which came with the cod) were in a miniature pan so the portion was small but other than that, couldn’t fault it. Will definitely return.

Service was prompt and friendly. Waiter Hake served us who was very attentive. Lovely seating area. Good choice of pub menu type choices, surprisingly beef wellington was on the menu so we went for this. Was advised it was a 30 min wait due to cooking time, worth the wait. Lovely Wellington with root vegetables and mash.

Visited The Nineteen in a group of 20. Beautifully decorated private room. The food and staff were excellent. Best pub food we've had for a long time. Only criticism was the private room was a bit cold on the window side but that wouldn't put me off earing there again.
